Welcome to the very first blog post of 2026!! Woot Woot!
I am Brittany Michelle, the creator of Moonlit Mindfulness13, and I am so incredibly honored to have you here in this sacred space. As we stand at the beginning of a fresh calendar, the air feels thick with possibility, doesn’t it? It’s like the world has taken a deep, collective breath, and we are finally exhaling the weight of the past.
Setting resolutions is wonderful, but the real magic happens when we clear the internal clutter first. To make room for the new, we must gently release the negative mindsets and habits that no longer serve our highest good.
Here are 12 spiritual and practical tips to help you shed the old skin of 2025 and step into a refreshing 2026.
1. The Art of “Pratyahara” (Withdrawal of Senses)
Negative mindsets often start with what we consume.
- The Habit: Audit your digital space. Unfollow accounts that trigger comparison or anxiety. Instead, start your morning with five minutes of silence before touching your phone.
2. Practice Radical Self-Compassion
We are often our own harshest critics. Spiritually, we are all works in progress.
- The Habit: When you notice a “mean” thought about yourself, pause and say, “I am doing my best, and my best is enough.” Treat your inner monologue like you would treat a dear friend.
3. Release the Need for Control
Anxiety lives in the “what ifs.” Peace lives in the “what is.”
- The Habit: Practice Ishvara Pranidhana (surrender). When a situation feels heavy, physically open your palms upward and take three deep breaths, mentally handing the worry over to the universe.
4. Cleanse Your Physical Space
Energy gets stuck in corners and clutter.
- The Habit: Do a “Mindful Purge.” Each day this week, find one item that carries heavy memories or no longer serves you and donate it. Smudge your home with sage or palo santo to reset the vibration.
5. Shift from “Lack” to “Abundance”
A negative mindset focuses on what is missing. A refreshing mindset focuses on what is flowing.
- The Habit: Keep a Moonlit Gratitude Journal. Every night before bed, write down three tiny joys—a warm cup of tea, a smile from a stranger, or the way the moon looks tonight.
6. Move the Energy Through Your Body
Stagnant emotions often manifest as physical tension.
- The Habit: Establish a daily movement ritual. Whether it’s a full vinyasa flow or just five minutes of stretching on your mat, tell your body, “It is safe to let go of this tension now.”
7. Mindful Breathwork (Pranayama)
The breath is the bridge between the mind and the spirit.
- The Habit: Use the 4-7-8 breathing technique whenever you feel a negative spiral beginning. Inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8. It literally rewires your nervous system for peace.
8. Release the Habit of “Should”
“I should be further along,” or “I should be doing more.” This is a thief of joy.
- The Habit: Replace the word “should” with “could” or “choose to.” Shift from obligation to empowerment.
9. Connect with the Earth
We spend so much time in our heads that we forget we are part of nature.
- The Habit: Practice “Earthing.” Even in the winter, find a moment to stand outside (bundle up!) and feel the ground beneath you. Visualize your negativity draining into the earth to be composted into something new.
10. Forgive the Past Version of You
You were surviving with the tools you had at the time.
- The Habit: Write a letter to your 2025 self. Thank her for getting you here, tell her you forgive her mistakes, and then safely burn the letter as a ritual of release.
11. Seek Connection, Not Perfection
Isolation feeds negative mindsets.
- The Habit: Commit to one in-person event a month—like our Restore & Reset Retreat. Surrounding yourself with high-vibrational people makes it much harder for negativity to take root.
12. Set “Intentions,” Not Just Goals
Goals are about the destination; intentions are about the journey.
- The Habit: Choose one “Word of the Year.” Whenever you feel lost, return to that word—whether it’s Grace, Flow, Strength, or Peace—to realign your spirit.
Thank you so much for reading and for being such a vital part of the Moonlit Mindfulness13 family. My prayer for you in 2026 is that you walk with a lighter heart and a mind that sees the magic in every moment.
Happy New Year, beautiful friends!
With endless love and light,
Brittany Michelle🐝
